New Media Is Good Says Guyana

In an environment where new media is often under attack, South American country Guyana has taken a stance in favor of new media, and it’s all good.

Guyana President Bharrat Jagdeo said in an address to the local Impress Youth Expo and Forum this week that new media can be used in a positive way to assist the “young” people in his country.

Jagdeo said in a speech that young people can “intelligently utilize such media to advance development” and that “new media can be used in various ways to impact [positively on] a country.”

It’s refreshing to see a country, even one as poor as Guyana, recognize the positives new media can deliver, at a time that even the world’s oldest democracy, the United Kingdom, is suggesting that it be censored.
