Facebook To Begin Rolling Out “Listen With” Feature For Audiophiles

Facebook Listen With Feature

Facebook on Thursday announced the upcoming release of its new Listen With feature, a platform build into a users profile that allows them to share music and listen to music with friends in real-time. If the program sounds familiar you’re probably familiar with Turntable.FM which provides a similar service.

At this time you can see what your friends are listening to on Spotify and then click on the play button to start the song from the beginning, however with the new platform users will jump in right where there friends are at in a song and if they change songs mid-listen you’ll be transported along with them to the next track.

The system is currently setup to utilize both the Spotify and Rdio platforms while also providing a chatroom where multiple people can listen and talk about the same tracks at the same time.

According to a Facebook Blog Post the new program is meant to be a “sharing experience” so “when your favorite vocal part comes in you can experience it together, just like when you’re jamming out at a performance or dance club.”

Users looking to take advantage of the new platform will see a musical note appear in their chat sidebar over the next couple weeks, simply click on that note, hover over someone’s name and click on the “Listen with x” button to get started.

Will you be taking advantage of the Facebook Listen With feature when it arrives?
