Superproducer Harvey Weinstein has teamed with AOL-HuffingtonPost Group to help relaunch the company’s Moviefone platform.
Under the relaunch AOL will now feature new content from Weinstein, Tribeca Film Festival COO Jon Patricof and a former associate of Stanley Kubrick’s.
Moviefone is also integrating with the Huffington Post to deliver a popular mix of blogs from celebrities, politicians and other notable figures.
Speaking of the relaunch Michael Hogan, AOL-HuffPost’s executive features editor, told TheWrap.
“It’s really exciting because the issue or the topic is Hollywood and the movies and we’re reaching out to a lot of really fascinating people.
Michael added:
“We are excited about the opportunity to let these folks who are constantly in the media being talked about to speak out in first person about things.
Among the sites first big goals will be to fully cover the Hollywood awards season which runs from January through the Academy Awards..
Hogan ends by noting the company’s plans to turn the portal into a content based site:
“AOL is a content company and that’s why they bought the Huffington Post,” Hogan said. “Now we’ve got an engine to really represent that to the best effect. You won’t find content like this on competitor sites.”
