Meet AOL’s New ‘Chief People Officer’ John Reid-Dodick

On Monday AOL announced the hiring of John Reid-Dodick,the former Global Head of Human Resources for Thomson Reuters Markets. Reid-Dodick will take over as the company’s new “Chief People Officer” within their human resources department.

According to the company John will be in charge of leading the company’s global efforts that focus on personal development, talent acquisition, career progressions, total rewards and business advice for leadership and organizational performance.

Speaking of the company’s new acquisition CEO Tim Armstrong said:

“We are thrilled to welcome John to our AOL executive team … He and our HR team will lead our company’s very important commitment to recruiting, developing and empowering our employees so they can thrive at work. John is a perfect example of the passionate, professional and dedicated talent that we continue to attract to AOL.”

According to the company the CPO’s main job will be to attract the best talents the industry has to offer in the fields of media, advertising and technology.
Speaking about his new position Reid-Dodick noted:
“I’m excited to join AOL because of its strong focus on attracting world-class talent and nurturing a highly creative, collaborative and productive culture,” said Reid-Dodick. “AOL is an iconic and trusted brand, and I’m delighted to be part of the AOL family.”
As AOL continues to align itself with new partners through acquisitions John is the perfect person for the job, when Thomson acquired news service Reuters in 2008 it was Reid-Dodick who led their culture and people integration.

On the official AOL press blog they note:

An expert in leadership, talent, and organizational culture and change, Reid-Dodick has led a number of initiatives that received industry awards of excellence and were featured as best practice in publications such as Stephen Bungay’s The Art of Action: How Leaders Close the Gaps Between Plans, Actions and Results (2011), and Jeff DeGraff’s and Shawn Quinn’s Leading Innovation: How to Jump Start Your Organization’s Growth Engine (2006).
John is a cum laude graduateof Harvard Law School where he also served as the Managing Editor of the Harvard Law Review. He also holds a Masters degree in Politics from New York University and a Bachelors degree  from the University of Manitoba.
