In a sign of the changing times for television both Netflix Inc. and Amazon.com signed internet streaming deal with Walt Disney Co. over the weekend.

Under the terms of their deals the two rival companies will be given permission to stream ABC and Disney Channel shows over the internet.

The move for Amazon comes after they have made a large push lately to add more content to their network, recently announcing more than 11,000 titles since February from the likes of CBS Corp. According to Amazon their deal will provide more than 800 new episodes for their Prime instant video service which brings their total number of TV shows and movies to almost 13,000.

In the meantime Netflix has been furiously trying to pick up new contracts after losing Starz which provides the company with all of their Sony Pictures and Disney movie streaming rights.

Under Netflix’s new deal they will extend their already in place contract while adding new offerings from ABC that they hadn’t previously offered.

Among the “pickups” for both company’s will be the likes of Grey’s Anatomy, Lost and Phineas & Ferb.

None of the company’s involved in the streaming content deals have disclosed financial agreements at this time.

Upon news of the new deals all three company’s witnessed small declines in share prices with Disney off 2.3%, Amazon down 1% and Netflix slipping 1.5%.
