Huffington Post Launches Four New Destination Sites Including ‘HuffPost Gay Voices’

Huffington Post Gay Voices

Continuing with their rapid expansion plans the Huffington Post Media Group on Monday announced the launch of four new destination sites. The sites include :Huff/Post50 (www.huffingtonpost.com/50), HuffPost Gay Voices(www.huffingtonpost.com/gay-voices) and HuffPost Weddings(www.huffingtonpost/weddings) and HuffPost High School.

HuffPost/50, a site geared towards people who have reached the age of 50 and beyond is being run by Editor-at-Large Rita Wilson who is best known for her acting, producing and writing. The site covers the challenges faced by the baby boomer generation which numbers 77 million strong.

Speaking about her new role Wilson says:

“The idea that we boomers are somehow supposed to wind things down as we get older completely escapes me. Exploring the minds and hearts of this group of people is exciting. It’s never too late to mix things up, change your life, to get to what you really should be doing — or want to be doing. As Mark Twain said, ‘Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.'”

HuffPost/50 will also feature various 50-something bloggers including Bill Maher and Christiane Amanpour among others.

Also launching is the new HuffPost High School edition which features news from some of the countries top high school journalists and teen bloggers. The site as expected features news about growing up, preparing for college, social networking, teen culture, celebrity gossip and information about high school sports, prom and everything in between.

The “gay friendly” site HuffPost Gay Voices has also went live on Monday and features news and viewpoints about the challenges faced by the LGBT community including family, faith, politics and sexuality. Gay Voices covers news, culture and trends while providing opinion pieces and general news about travel, health, style, entertainment and politics. The gay friendly offering is also expected to feature top notch bloggers including Margaret Cho and Christine Quinn.

Also ready to provide information to site readers it HuffPost Weddings which offers readers a comprehensive look at weddings and marriage from all angles. Readers at Weddings will be able to find information about unique wedding cakes and exotic dream honeymoons to more practical offerings for wedding planners on a budget. The new site is expected to feature information on inter-faith ceremonies and gay weddings to “the latest proposal video gone viral” and everything in between. Among the new destinations top bloggers are Heidi Klum and Kelly Meyer, along with celebrity wedding planners Mindy Weiss, Sharon Sacks, Preston Bailey, and Colin Cowie. For site visitors looking for clothing suggestions for their big day designers Nanette Lepore, Angel Sanchez and Reem Acra will be lending their voices.

Weddings launches months after HuffPost Divorce became a reality, it goes to show you where priorities lie in our country.
