News Rewired

Journalism.co.uk has announced their fifth News:Rewired connected journalism conference, a popular always sold-out UK based event that provides digital journalists with the tools they need to survive in the digital age.

The event provides journalists with expert advice on how to collaborate in the digital newsroom, while offering innovative ways for journalists to connect in the digital age, find new work opportunities and even fund their own online media ventures.

News:Rewired will be held on October 6 and will feature journalists, communications experts and digital entrepreneurs along with other newbies interested in the internet based media industry. The day long event includes talks, debates and discussions surrounding collaboration efforts for the budding online journalism industry.

According to event creator Journalism.co.uk:

Specific topics to be covered include the architecture of the newsroom, how to inspire continued and enhanced engagement from a community and some of the top tools and new digital platforms journalists can use to achieve truly integrated storytelling.

The event will also address the business opportunities afforded by collaboration between media outlets, and with the community, with sessions on innovative funding models being adopted by community-focused news outlets and the importance of collaboration for the future of investigative journalism.

Journalism news editor Rachel McAthy says of the event:

“Media businesses today are made up of a variety of different roles which all have a bearing on the end journalism product, be it those working in developer positions, community management roles or user-generated content editing. This provides many opportunities for new and exciting collaborations as part of an integrated newsroom.”

Confirmed speakers for the event already include members of Guardian.co.uk, Telegraph.co.uk, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, Citizenside and Demotix.
