AOL Launches Editors Room, Brings Curated Video Content To Publishers

AOL Editors Room

AOL Video on Wednesday launched Editors Room a new video embed platform that allows publishers to post thousands of videos on their website while earning money from their use.

The platform currently offers more than 250,000 curated premium videos from AOL’s own vault and it offers videos from top media companies including BBC News, Hearst, Meredith,GigaOM,blip.tv and Bonnier.

Already beta tested by the Huffington Post Media Group the program allows for value added video information to be added to breaking news and other informational pieces.

According to AOL:

The video platform was designed with editorial staff in mind and presents an intuitive ad-free search interface that simplifies selecting and embedding video. From current events and breaking news to seasonal content, the Editors Room streamlines searching for relevant video content and offers publishers the ability to immediately monetize their video embeds with pre-roll and overlay ads.

Ran Harnevo, Senior Vice President of AOL Video says AOL’s robust video library is being made available and the company’s monetization efforts should help set them apart from industry competitors.

According to HuffPost findings users who had pages with AOL videos included spent 86% more time on pages compared to pages where no videos were used.
